This itinerary is designed specifically for coffee professionals, exporters, and enthusiasts. This curated 5 day journey balances Tokyo’s third-wave roasteries, traditional kissaten culture, gear sourcing, and B2B market research with iconic, memorable Tokyo sightseeing.
First Day: East Tokyo Specialty Hub & Historic Icons
We start our trip in Kiyosumi-Shirakawa, the neighborhood that anchored Tokyo’s specialty coffee movement.
Coffee Stop: We begin at the Blue Bottle Japan Flagship, a massive converted warehouse space. Next, we walk to Arise Coffee Roasters, known for micro-lots and distinct single-origin Ethiopian coffees served in a relaxed, local setup.
Midday; We stroll through the Edo-period landscape grounds at Kiyosumi Gardens, enjoying traditional teahouse views over the central pond.
Afternoon; We take a short transfer to Asakusa, Tokyo’s historical heart.
Sightseeing: We visit Sensō-ji Temple, Tokyo’s oldest temple complex, and stroll through the historic stalls along Nakamise Shopping Street. Then to end our day, We cross the river to Tokyo Skytree for panoramic evening views across the Tokyo skyline.
Day two: Kitchen Town Gear Sourcing & B2B Green Coffee Importers
We start our morning with a Coffee Stop: We head to GLITCH COFFEE & ROASTERS in Jimbocho. We order a multi-bean single-origin flight served in wine glasses, detailing elevation, origin, and processing parameters. We will have time for some sight seeing then to Gear Sourcing: We walk through Kappabashi Kitchen Town. We visit Union Coffee Store, a multi-story showroom dedicated to coffee equipment ranging from copper nel drip pots, siphon setups, and custom ceramic drippers to commercial roasters and hand grinders.
Afternoon; Market Insight (B2B): We attend a pre-booked green coffee session at TYPICA Tokyo Lab. We observe how Japanese buyers evaluate Ethiopian micro lots, anaerobic processing, and direct-trade storytelling.
For our evening we walk through Ueno Park and sample local street food along the energetic Ameyoko Market.
Third Day: Flagship Craft Design, Retail Research & Shibuya Culture
A Morning showroom Visit: We visit the HARIO Lampwork Factory Yaesu Store at Tokyo Midtown Yaesu to view heat-resistant glassware, specialized drippers, and custom manual pour-over hardware.
Then to retail Analysis: We head to the Shinjuku Isetan Depachika (basement luxury food hall). We analyze how specialty coffee, single-serve drip bags, and gift sets are packaged, priced, and positioned for the Japanese luxury consumer market.
A Coffee Stop: We experience traditional Japanese kissaten culture at Chatei Hatou in Shibuya. We watch baristas hand-pour flannel drip (nel drip) coffee using custom ceramics selected specifically for each guest.
In the afternoon we walk across Shibuya Crossing and explore the surrounding entertainment and shopping streets. and end our evening with Japanese dinner.
Fourth Day: Interactive Brew Lab & West Tokyo Neighborhoods
Morning Sightseeing: We begin our morning walking through the peaceful, forested approach of Meiji Jingu Shrine in Harajuku before strolling down the nearby design and boutique streets of Omotesando.
Midday Coffee Experience: We take a short train ride to Ogawa Coffee Laboratory Shimokitazawa. We select single-origin beans from their cellar, test different dripper geometries (Origami vs. Kalita), and dial in extraction parameters on high-end gear.
Afternoon: We explore the pedestrian alleyways, vintage stores, and local roasteries scattered throughout Shimokitazawa.
Evening: We return to Shinjuku to explore the lantern-lit food stalls of Omoide Yokocho for dinner, followed by a walk through the atmospheric micro-bars of Golden Gai.
Fifth day: Shopping & Departure Preparation
Our last morning in tokyo is dedicated to shopping and chasing the best meal we ate one last time! For shopping options you have Ginza or Shinjuku or if you prefer electronics Akihabara.
Ginza: Flagship lifestyle shopping (Uniqlo 12-story flagship, Ginza Six, MUJI), luxury goods, and ceramics.
Shinjuku (Isetan & Yodobashi): Drip-bag coffee gift sets, Japanese tea, beauty tech, and luggage.
Then we enjoy a final coffee or japanese snack and make our way to the Airport to catch our flight
